The Prince Charles High Grove Shops and Tours
The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation, a grant making Trust, was established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1979. One of the vehicles that Prince Charles has established for trust is a chain of shops called High Grove. These shops are located in Bath, Tetbury and London.
Everything in the shops is sold to support the similar lifestyle he leads at HighGrove which is his Scottish place in the country. These gardens, that are the private gardens of their royal highnesses the Duke and the Duchess of Cornwall are famous for being naturalized, organic and as “green” in maintenance as possible. His Royal Highness is known for his strict adherence to creating sustainable gardens and wild flower gardens.
The shop sells many different things including food and drink, gardening tools, seeds, stationary, furniture, clothes, accessories and bath products. All of it is very hip, well-made and of superior quality whether it be a towel, a mug or a jar of jam.
At High Grove itself the gardens are open from Monday to Friday and occasional weekends. You have to phone to check to see if it is open as High Grove is often rented out to corporations that would like to hold special events. You can go on a standard tour and have lunch or tea in the garden or you can book a more expensive champagne tea tour which also features a traditional English High Tea in the garden.
One of the most interesting features of High Grove is the wild flower meadow which was created over thirty years ago and is ever changing with new varieties of naturalized flowers. You can also buy special seed mixes online that can recreate the wild meadow.
The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation is a group of not-for-profit charities of which Charles is the President. The organisations are active across a broad range of areas including opportunity and enterprise, the built environment, responsible business, and education.
