Gift Foods From the Royal Ship Britannia
The royal gift shop is inside the Royal Yacht Brittania which is always docked in Edinburgh. This famous ship has been a temporary home for some of the most famous people in the world. Currently it is open for tourists to visits and even non-royals can book an exclusive dinner or reception on the yacht.
Everything that is sold in the gift shop on the Royal Britannia is a royal beverage or confection that has been approved by the H.R. Queen Elizabeth II.
As tea is the official beverage of England the yacht’s gift shop offers a special Britannia Afternoon Tea blend. This is a classic, soothing and refreshing tea that is blended in Edinburgh using teas from Kenya, Ceylon and India. The design on the packaging, a strong cardboard drum is the same pattern that is on the Queen’s favourite lounging couch in the Sun room of the Royal Britannia. It is where she drinks her tea every morning.
There are also two types of coffee sold on the royal yacht. One is His Lordship coffee which is a dark and rich blend and the other is Her Ladyship Coffee which is a medium roast with a bit of a bite that tastes slightly nutty. Both are very high quality coffees from Kenya.
To go with the tea and the coffee the Royal Brittania gift shop also sells a tin of Scottish shortbread. The shortbread is very flaky as it is almost one third butter. The other ingredients are wheat flour, sugar, corn flour and salt. These cookies are made in the north of Scotland especially for the Royal Yacht Britannia.
A very special Royal Fudge is sold in the gift shop as well. This popular confection is made in small batches by a resident confectioner named Pauline. All fudge is sold in the same gift box that offers a selection of four different flavours: caramel, rum and raisin, chocolate orange swirl and a triple decker which is a trio of vanilla, chocolate and caramel.
You can order the coffee and tea online and have it sent anywhere in the world via international shipping. However if you want the fudge and shortbread cookies then you are going to have to go to where the Royal Yacht is docked in Edinburgh and buy it there. These food goods can only be shipped in the United Kingdom due to the fact that they are perishables.\
